A magical evening of classical Indian music, by a new generation of maestros. Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan is the calm center around which “The Storm” swirls. His profound mastery of the sitar, honed over decades of rigorous sadhana, anchors the ensemble and provides a touchstone of tradition amidst the maelstrom of innovation. Shakir Khan is the fresh breeze that propels “The Storm” forward. Trained in the rich traditions of the Etawah Gharana but imbued with a restless creative spirit, Shakir brings a new energy and perspective to the sitar. His playing is marked by daring leaps of imagination, technical brilliance, and an infectious joy in musical exploration. Anubrata Chatterjee is the thundering heartbeat of “The Storm”. His tabla playing is a force of nature – powerful, precise, and endlessly inventive. Anubrata’s mastery of rhythm and his intuitive understanding of musical dialogue elevate him from a mere accompanist to an equal partner in the creation of The Storm’s sonic landscape. This program is presented by the Rhythm Foundation, in partnership with MAIACA (Miami Association of Indians for Art and Culture).
