HispaFest 2024: “Gallery Style” Showcases Contemporary Art by Immigrant Artists in Miami
This Saturday, November 2, HispaFest 2024 celebrates its fifth anniversary with a “Gallery Style” exhibition at the historic Alfred Dupont Building, made possible by Tilia Venture. Staying true to its mission of uniting the city’s diverse communities through art and fostering a sense of belonging in this land that has welcomed us all, the event presents the talents of outstanding immigrant artists, of both first and second-generation, based in Miami. Under the direction and curation of Nubia Abaji, the exhibition celebrates the diversity and creativity of the Hispanic American community in contemporary art.
The opening, held on November 2 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., will feature the Argentine Consul in Miami, Marcelo Gilardoni as the host, who will deliver opening remarks and in
support of the representative artist from Argentina, Luli Sulichin following the performance of the artist Danie Gomez Ortigoza representing Mexico for this edition of HispaFest, part of five exhibitions held during September, October, and November. The exhibition will remain open to the public until November 15, Monday through Friday, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., or by appointment by contacting info@hispafest.net.
At the entrance from the building’s hallway, visitors will find two installations from the Diorama Project, a collaboration between The Bright Foundation, HispaFest, and Tilia Venture. This exhibition, also curated by Abaji, presents works by artists Ivonne Ferrer and Rafael Montilla. Ferrer explores societal interactions and social games, while Montilla addresses themes of beginnings and endings, not only in society but also in its evolution, with each artist contributing their distinctive and captivating visual language.
