Carla Camacho is a prominent figure in the art world. She currently serves as a Partner at Lehmann Maupin Gallery. With nearly two decades of experience in the gallery scene, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role.

Camacho’s journey in the art industry began at Leo Castelli Graphics, a renowned gallery specializing in prints and photographs. Here, she laid the foundation for her career and gained valuable insights into the intricacies of the art market. She then transitioned to Cheim & Read, a prominent New York-based gallery, where she further honed her skills and developed a keen eye for contemporary art.

A pivotal moment in Camacho’s career came during her undergraduate studies at Marymount Manhattan College, where she was introduced to the world of contemporary art through a required visual arts class. This experience ignited her passion for the arts and set her on a path toward a career in the field.

Driven by her newfound passion, Camacho pursued a Master’s degree in art history with a focus on conservation at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. This academic background provided her with a comprehensive understanding of art history and conservation practices, complementing her practical experience in the gallery world.

During her tenure at Lehmann Maupin Gallery, Camacho has played a crucial role in the gallery’s growth and expansion. As Director of Sales for seven years before becoming a Partner, she has guided the team through significant milestones, including the gallery’s expansion to the Lower East Side in 2007 and Hong Kong in 2013.

Camacho’s dedication to promoting contemporary art and fostering meaningful connections between artists, collectors, and the public is evident in her work. With her extensive experience, sharp business acumen, and unwavering passion for the arts, Carla Camacho continues to significantly impact the art world and shape the cultural landscape for years to come.
