Embracing Divinity: A State of Grace with works by Reynier Llane
Frascione Gallery in Palm Beach announces its spring exhibition, “Embracing Divinity: A State of Grace with works by Reynier Llanes”. This immersive exploration of human connection and emotion will run from April 19 to May 30th, 2024, at Frascione Gallery’s Palm Beach location on 256 Worth Avenue, Via Amore, Suite O, Palm Beach, FL 33480, www.frascione.com.
Daisy B. Diaz, Frascione Gallery’s curator and creative director, introduces a fresh body of work, featuring a selection of paintings, sketches, and works on paper by Cuban artist Reynier Llanes, alongside masterpieces from the 16th and 17th centuries by Florentine painters Francesco Botti and the Master of the Lamentation of Scandicci. This unique artistic venture aims to highlight the beauty of the human embrace across various scenarios, from the enchanting to the contemplative.
“Llanes’ vibrant iconographic language of multicolored dreamscapes has made him one of the most recognizable Latin artists of today,” comments Diaz. “Join us as we celebrate the convergence of past and present, tradition and innovation, in a breathtaking showcase of artistic expression.”
Within Llanes’ work, notable figures such as The Poet, The Tourist, and The Keepers inhabit distinct series, each serving as vessels for his own fears, aspirations, and visions for the future of humanity. “Embracing Divinity” beckons viewers into this realm, bridging the traditions of European painting with Llanes’ contemporary sensibilities. Here, nature flourishes and regenerates, even amidst its own destruction, portrayed across a range of mediums—from the richness of oil on canvas to the delicacy of gouache on paper, and even Llanes’ innovative use of coffee as a medium.
This selection presents moments of profound grace, where the essence of creation is captured in the embrace of mother and father, where the promise of spring blooms forth, and where the mysteries of the cosmos are reflected in the faces of Llanes’ characters. Through his art, Llanes invites us to contemplate the eternal cycle of life, offering glimpses into a world where hope and wonder endure.
About Reynier Llanes
Reynier Llanes’ art is a fusion of symbolism and expression, marked by an evolution from realism to a distinctive style characterized by refined technique, impressionistic brushwork, and compelling storytelling. While his virtuosity in mastering various media remains evident, it intertwines seamlessly with his profound desire to weave narratives and construct entire worlds filled with characters and metaphors.
Llanes was born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba in 1985. He attended the city’s school of art (Instructores de Arte) for four years and completed his studies in 2004. Llanes was tutored by one of the country’s most recognized realist artists, Juan Miguel Suárez. In 2005 he moved to Havana where he continued his studies and collaborated with various artists. In 2007 LIanes emigrated from Cuba to the United States and currently lives and works in Miami. His awards and recognitions include being named one of the 2012 ”New Superstars of Southern Art” by Oxford America and awarded a “first purchase award” for a piece that is now part of the city of Charleston’s art collection.
His art is on permanent exhibition in the Denver Art Museum, Ogunquit Museum of American Art, Cornell Fine Arts Museum Rollins College, Snite Museum of Art, Polk Museum of Art, The Arkansas Arts Center, Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Art, DeLand, FL, and the museum collection of Franklin G. Burroughs – Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum in Myrtle Beach, SC.
