TANYA WEDDEMIRE GALLERY Inaugural Solo Participation at SCOPE ART SHOW MIAMI BEACH 2024
Tanya Weddemire Gallery is thrilled to announce its inaugural solo participation at the 2024 SCOPE Art Show in MIAMI BEACH. The gallery is proud to present a compelling showcase featuring works from established artist Guy Stanley Philoche and emerging artist Serron Green and their respective series: “GIVE US OUR FLOWERS” by GUY STANLEY PHILOCHE and “INVISIBLE” by SERRON GREEN.
This exhibition embraces themes of remembrance and resilience while celebrating Philoche’s return to the SCOPE ART SHOW for the seventh time. Philoche’s “Give Us Our Flowers” series serves as a poignant commentary, breaking down the barriers that divide us. His vibrant colors and thoughtful compositions invite viewers to reflect on their viability while he utilizes a layering technique that resembles a concrete building, further acknowledging the complexities within the human experience.
For Green, this debut at the SCOPE ART SHOW is a profound honor and a reflection of his artistic vision. His “Invisible“ series offers a thought-provoking exploration of the rise and fall of historical leaders and the revolutionary spirit of the Black Power movement. Green’s minimalist figurative works, created on canvas, paper, and cardboard, highlight the intricate stories of Black livelihood and the echoes of resiliency. He incorporates elements such as graffiti, acrylic, and oil paint to create vividly striking mixed-media portraits.
Together, Guy Stanley Philoche and Serron Green use their artistry to illuminate the profound impact of global interconnectedness through interdependence and creative exchange. Their symbiotic relationship and shared subject matter of youthfulness foster deeper conversations and insights into nostalgic experiences, Black visibility, and shared communal histories through the medium of mixed-media art. Immerse yourself in their inspiring works at the SCOPE ART SHOW in Miami Beach from December 3rd to 8th, 2024 and embrace the essence of community, culture, and legacy.
SCOPE ART SHOW is a premier platform and a trailblazer in contemporary art. It “stands poised to build upon its incredible history of global and diverse programming, offering collectors and the public the chance to discover up-and-coming artists and galleries from around the world,” said Hayley River Smith, SCOPE Director. As the upcoming exhibition approaches, Tanya Weddemire, the Founder and CEO of Tanya Weddemire Gallery, stated, “Bringing these two distinct artists together has been both a challenge and an inspiration. When displayed side by side, their contrasting styles reveal a powerful interdependence.”

about SERRON GREEN| @xplorefreedom
Raised in Newark, New Jersey, at the height of the Black Power Movement and during the eighties, as it became the newest form of self-expression, Serron Green, aka xplorefreedom, realized early on that the joining of these ideals would be the inspiration for his work. The self-taught artist began experimenting with graffiti during the eighties and nineties. He began incorporating different mediums such as markers, watercolor, and even house paint—with spray paint always remaining a constant. Since then, he has broadened his scope of work to include materials such as reclaimed wood, rich textiles, and many other unconventional items. 2009 was a pivotal year for the artist. He began creating work for formal exhibitions at the urging of friends, fellow artists, and collectors. Pieces created in the years prior were sold by word-of-mouth through a broadening circle that created an increasingly steady demand. He currently lives and works in Newark—a limitless source of inspiration. His travels across Europe, The Caribbean, and North and South America have greatly impacted the way he sees the world around him, and each discovery of a new locale, its traditions, and culture, strengthens his belief that art truly has the power to invoke change in the world.
