Making Miami Work for You: Solving the Studio Gap In Miami
How To Make Miami Work for You: Solving the Studio Gap In Miami
The lack of affordable studio space for artists in Miami remains one of the most critical issues facing creators today. With the cost of land rising alarmingly high, how can we engage local landowners to consider investing capital into cultural development? How can they do so without disproportionately affecting disadvantaged populations? What are some of the steps involved in launching a studio community, and what are some of the local success stories?
In this discussion, we’ll work with recognized leaders to problem-solve the studio space dilemma in Miami. We’ll hear about best practices and come together to discuss opportunities with developers who have yet to consider offering studio space for artists as a formula for developing a neighborhood.
Where the City of Miami is currently working to pass a public art ordinance that would incentivize developers to provide affordable studio space for artists, this conversation will occur at a pivotal moment in Miami.
