Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas Announces “Latin American Rockers” Exhibition
The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas (MoCA-Americas) is thrilled to announce its upcoming exhibition, Latin American Rockers, opening on July 12th, 2024. Curated by artist and promoter Carolina García (Apia), the exhibition is inspired by the iconic song “We Are South American Rockers” by the Chilean band Los Prisioneros, the first music video broadcast on MTV Latino.
Exploring the Spirit of Rebellion and Creativity
“Latin American Rockers” delves into South America’s vibrant cultural tapestry, celebrating the region’s rich artistic heritage and offering a fresh perspective on contemporary Latin American art. The exhibition brings together artists from South America and Mexico, each invited by the curator to reflect on their cultural roots and explore the spirit of rebellion, freedom, and creativity that characterizes the region.
A Tribute to the Power of Music and Art
Ultimately, “Latin American Rockers” serves as a tribute to music’s undeniable influence on art and society. The exhibition seeks to connect rock music’s rhythm with the visual rhythm of art, highlighting the way both mediums transcend borders and create a dialogue between diverse cultures.
A Multifaceted Exhibition
Featuring a wide range of artistic forms, including painting, sculpture, photography, and multimedia installations, “Latin American Rockers” ensures a broad representation of artistic expressions within the Latin American context. This interdisciplinary dialogue showcases the evolution of art south of the United States, anchoring the event in the complex pathways of contemporary creativity.
