Galerie Nordenhake
Galerie Nordenhake is an international contemporary art gallery located in Europe and Latin America. Founded by Claes Nordenhake in 1976 in Malmö, Sweden, the gallery promotes the practice of leading, intellectually engaging and diverse artists, both established and emerging. It is recognised for its sustained representation of artists, nurturing their practice and working collaboratively with institutions and galleries to enhance their visibility.
Galerie Nordenhake is located in three dynamic cities, with spaces in Berlin, Stockholm and Mexico City. Each gallery shares the same ethos and pursues a level of independence with different programmes and aesthetic of presentation and architecture, informed by the individual approach of its directors, its local cultural context and artistic ecosystem. Galerie Nordenhake was founded on a model of curatorial integrity and insight which continues today, responding organically to changing markets and new opportunities.
Galerie Nordenhake maintains gallery spaces in Stockholm, Berlin and Mexico City and focuses on international contemporary art in various media. Claes Nordenhake opened his first gallery in Malmö in 1976 with an exhibition of paintings by Olle Baertling whose work to date is represented by the gallery. In 1986 the gallery relocated to a new space in the representative building of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. In 2000 the gallery opened a second location in Berlin. Its inaugural exhibition “Through Melancholia and Charm” presented large scale works by Mirosław Bałka, David Hammons, Mona Hatoum, and Ann-Sofi Sidén. After two years of having a presence in Mexico City the gallery found its new space in Roma Norte re-designed by architect and artist Frida Escobedo in 2021.http://www.nordenhake.com
