Join Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) and Flip It & Reverse It for convening centered around creativity and community featuring artists, curators, Indigenous knowledge bearers, spiritual leaders, and cultural organizers from four continents who come together with the local Miami community to share strategies for creative change-making, and forging connections.

Aug 14, 2026

From: 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Artists, curators, Indigenous knowledge bearers, spiritual leaders and cultural organizers gather to examine how creativity can strengthen communities and support environmental stewardship. The daylong convening takes place Friday, August 14 at Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). Participants from four continents will share approaches to socially engaged art, collective organizing and cultural change through conversations, presentations and communal exchange.

The program begins with a blessing by Her Royal Majesty Queen Mother Dr. Dòwòti Désir, followed by sessions addressing connection across geographic boundaries, movements shaped by nature and the role of spiritual knowledge in artistic and curatorial practice. A shared lunch divides the morning and afternoon programs.

Featured participants include artists Christopher Cozier, Astrid González and william cordova, curators Rashida Bumbray, Keyna Elieson and Khanyisile Mbongwa, poet and traditional Chinese medicine practitioner Adrian Castro and Yoruba priestess Adenike Sharpley. PAMM representatives Franklin Sirmans and Marie Vickles also take part.

Flip It & Reverse It is a global art initiative, curatorial collective and research platform rooted in the vision of the late scholar Dr. Yesenia Selier. First presented at the 2025 Bienal de Cuenca in Ecuador, the project centers Indigenous knowledge and intersectional environmentalism while exploring new models for art institutions, cultural leadership and community-building.

Flip It & Reverse It explores how spirit can re-envision how art world structures, methodologies, and resources can be re-imagined and will feature a series of conversations, lectures, and presentations on subjects from socially engaged art to the Haitian Revolution’s legacy in contemporary art making. Through the sharing of tactics, strategies for building community, and protecting nature, we’ll come together to create a roadmap for creating change and healing the planet.
