The work of Carlos Evangelista exploits the modularity of Minimal Art, both in painting and sculpture, taking advantage of the presence of monochrome colors, creating unprecedented articulations of three-dimensional geometric figures of concrete abstract appearance.
Carlos Evangelista is a Spanish Postwar & Contemporary painter who was born in 1943. Carlos Evangelista’s work has been offered at auction multiple times.
Painter and sculptor. His work is written within the geometric Abstraction marked by expressive elements coming from Constructivism. Throughout his career, he has maintained a vocation for experimentation with different materials in his sculptural works such as aluminum, wood, and steel. In these sculptures, color is replaced by the omnipresence of space and the displacements of the planes. While in painting oil on wood has been his recurring materials; monochromatic colors sketch the movement, discovering the kinetic intentions of these paintings. Among his main grants are; Banesto Prize I Biennial City of Zamora (1971); III Biennial City of Zamora (1975); Award I Contest of Port-au-Prince (1982); Special Mention Goya Prize of Madrid (1988).
