Renowned Cuban American photographer Abelardo Morell honors the timeless magic of photography while bringing new vision to the art form. From his early practice using camera-obscura to his invented technique of merging image and ground through the tent-camera, Morell’s practice uses optics to show something different about the world. Morell’s lecture will explore his artistic development, focusing on recent works.
Through innovative techniques and a masterful understanding of optics, one photographer continues to push the boundaries of how we perceive and capture the world around us. The Arnold and Augusta Newman Foundation Lecture in Photography presents The Universe Next Door featuring acclaimed Cuban American photographer Abelardo Morell at the Lowe Art Museum, University of Miami, on Wednesday, February 26.
