Lucid Design District opened during Art Basel/Miami Art Week 2022. Owning an art gallery is Payal Tak’s second career. For thirty years she was the founder, president, and CEO of Telesis (an Information Technology company in Washington D.C.). Painting late into the night while listening to Sufi music allowed Tak to re-energize at the end of the workday. After relocating to Miami in 2020, Lucid Design District was originally her personal studio. However, with hopes of supporting other artists, she converted the 3,700-sf building into an art gallery and event space.

Tak’s mission is to provide a commercial platform for artists whose voices need to be heard. She says, “the gallery shares its walls with the objective to illuminate the viewer’s mind and allow artistic creations to become a force for good in society.”

To date, she has created more than 200 paintings. “My art is a reflection of my free mind,” comments Tak. “It is a liberating excursion that allows me to freely use a wide array of mediums and play with structure and form while allowing me to have an unrestricted approach to creativity.”

About Lucid Design District
Established in 2021 as a studio and exhibition space for founder Payal Tak’s personal artwork, Lucid Design District will officially open to the public during Art Basel Miami Beach (Miami Art Week) 2022. The gallery is located on Miami Design District’s “art corner” (10-12 NE 41 St. at Miami Ave.) next to Museum Garage and across the street from the de la Cruz Collection and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami. The idea of Lucid Design District was born from Ms. Tak’s desire to connect with the community through collaborative art exchanges. She envisions hosting regular exhibitions, educational art talks, and artist networking events. The 3700-sf space is also an ideal environment for design-focused networking events and features a large reception or performance area; 8 curio-style ‘idea spaces’ for solo artist showcases or breakout sessions; a full-size kitchen; and 75’ long outdoor seating or parking area with lights; and a large wall for art installations.

“My goal is to make available a commercial platform for artists whose voices need to be heard. Lucid shares its walls with the objective to illuminate the viewers mind and allow artistic creations to become a force for good in the society.” ~ Payal Tak
