61 NE 41st St, Miami, FL 33137
The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) proudly presents the opening of two powerful exhibitions: Mildred Thompson: Frequencies and Sanaa Gateja: Language of We, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 4 to 6 PM.
Mildred Thompson: Frequencies marks the celebrated American artist’s largest solo museum exhibition to date, showcasing her groundbreaking abstract work that visualizes sound, energy, and scientific phenomena. With vibrant color and rhythmic form, Thompson redefined abstraction through a deeply personal and intellectual lens.
Language of We introduces internationally acclaimed Ugandan artist Sanaa Gateja to U.S. audiences with his debut presentation of recent large-scale tapestries. Created from repurposed paper beads and organic materials, Gateja’s work speaks to environmental consciousness, collective memory, and craft traditions rooted in African identity.
Together, these exhibitions highlight diverse global voices and redefine the possibilities of material, form, and meaning in contemporary art.
Join us for the opening night and celebrate the dynamic visions of these two exceptional artists at ICA Miami in the heart of the Design District.
Admission is free and open to the public.
